Tuxemon means several different things:

  • The Tuxemon project is the collaboration of many people around the world to design monsters, techniques, stories, maps, items, and all sorts of other things that belong in the monster catching genre.
  • Tuxemon is the name of the first game that the Tuxemon project is creating
  • Tuxemon are the creatures/monsters that we design.

Terminology

A single example of a tuxemon is called an "individual" or a "character". For example, "Beachcomber Harry's level 5 Memnomnom" is an individual tuxemon.

A "variety" or "species" of tuxemon is all tuxemon of that category. For example, "Memnomnom" is a variety of tuxemon.

A "family" of tuxemon is a variety of tuxemon and its morphs. For example, Memnomnom, Miaownolith, Criniotherme and Pyraminx are all varieties in the "Memnomnom family".
